Business Start-up Workshops

Business Start-Up is offering a series of six 2½ hour workshops for Leeds Met students and graduates who would like to know more about starting their own business and self-employment as a potential career option. Register here

All will be held at 2pm – 4.30pm, Old Broadcasting House, Woodhouse Lane, Civic Quarter.

 

Workshop 1 – How to survive as an Entrepreneur in 2010

Starting and building a business is not easy. You need to be able to see your venture through good times and bad. This interactive workshop will uncover some of the tricks of the trade to ensure you create a business fit to survive.

 


 

Workshop 2 – Market Research

Researching your market can often be a daunting task when planning a new venture. This workshop will help you to save time and money by focusing on asking the top ten market research questions and how to use the answers!




Workshop 3 – Legal issues for small businesses

Getting your head around the legal implications of starting a business is essential, and this workshop will give an interesting and informative description of the basics of Intellectual Property and legal issues for small businesses.

Workshop 5 – Business planning

Planning is a very important stage of the start-up process as it helps to develop your business strengths and minimise potential weaknesses. This workshop will encourage effective steps in establishing a business plan.

 



Workshop 6 – Finance for small businesses

24th March 2010 - 2-4.30pm Old Broadcasting House

Cash flow forecasting is the most important factor to business finance as it will chart your journey to your financial goals. This workshop will enable you to check your financial progress and keep on track. With an insight into what the banks need to hear from you - guest speakers from Natwest.

Accountancy Workshop -

Bob Smith of VMF Business Advisors delivers this 2 hour Accountancy workshop which gives you an overview of how what financial accounts you must keep and how to use these effectively. Legal structures and Tax's will be discussed to see what is the most relevant to your company.

Sales Workshop Part 1 -

This is the first workshop of two to teach to about the basics of selling and how to identify suspects. You will leave the session knowing how to turn suspects into prospects.

Sales Workshop Part 2 -

This workshop is designed to develop your selling skills and to teach you how to manage the selling process.
