News: Entrepreneurs Boot Camp 2009
Entrepreneurs of the future get fit for business

Bishop Burton College in Beverley was the destination of choice this summer for almost 50 of the regions students and graduates who were looking to start their own business.

Organised by Leeds Metropolitan University Business Start-Up on behalf of all the Yorkshire & the Humber HEI, the Entrepreneurs Boot Camp is a unique 4 day residential programme which helps young entrepreneurs with everything from developing their business ideas through to marketing and legal issues.

The course ran from 29th June to 2nd July, and is part of a programme of activities run by the partnership of 11 Universities which aims to increase the number of new business start ups and encourage talented graduates to stay in the area. Funding for the event was provided by Yorkshire Forward. (www.yorkshireforward.com)

Business Start-Up Project Manager, Stephen Griffiths, thanked all the partner Universities for their support and assistance in both recruiting delegates for the event and in its delivery. “This years delegates have really engaged with the course and each other to make the whole Boot Camp a great success”

Support was provided to delegates from a dedicated team of business advisors and professionals who helped them to identify the practical issues involved in going it alone. Expert tuition was provided in the form of interactive tasks supported by one to one counselling sessions which were available throughout the week.
The students also had the chance to learn from those who have been there and done it. Each evening, guest entrepreneurs were on hand to provide inspiration, know how and share their real life success stories.
Roy Bainbridge, Sheffield Hallam University student and 2009 Entrepreneurs Boot Camp attendee said;
“The Boot camp was a great eye opener for me, with some very motivational presentations and the valuable experience of being around like minded entrepreneurs at various stages of the start up process.”
