The winners of our annual Business Concept Competition 2012 were Jonathan Gallon, Laura McBride, Mick Grogan and Michael Waters with Equilateral Media.
Equilateral Media is a not-for-profit social enterprise who provides training and careers advice for 13-25 year olds interested in electronic music or multimedia design. Alongside this they also provide creative services, graphic and web design and music production for commercial clients.
“As a social enterprise – a business reinvesting its profits, prioritising positive social outcomes over maximising revenue – it is important to us that young people without access to education, training and facilities in the creative arts are given the chance to engage with music and multimedia in ways that inspire confidence, both in themselves and in the arts, in a harsh climate of seven-figure youth unemployment”.
The money from the Business Concept Competition will enable them to invest more in their business and buy the necessary items to get the enterprise trading successfully.
“The competition brought together some great ideas from corporate events to apps and photography but, the Equilateral Media team fought some tough competition with the standard of applicants being very high. However, their passion and unique selling point was very clear which allowed them to stand out from the other finalists“(Mark Taylor, judge and business advisor).
