Love Rouge Bakery
Two Leeds Metropolitan University Retail Marketing and Management graduates, Becki Fowler and Lydia Sweeting have recently opened Love Rouge Bakery on Otley Road, Headingley.

Adrian Larkin
Adrian Larkin graduated from Leeds Met in June 2007 with a Masters degree in Film and Moving Image Production. The knowledge and skills that he developed when studying for this degree helped him to launch a video media productions company called True Media in January 2008.

Joel Seckleman
Joel Seckleman, a graduate of a Creative Music Sound Technology course at Leeds Metropolitan University, started up his business ‘Recorded Soul’ in 2011. Recorded Soul is a photography and graphic design business including commercial packages to print, web advertising, social networking, liaison and consultation.

Matthew Paton
Matthew, a third year Business Studies student, completed the Placement Year Entrepreneur Scheme (PYES) where Business Start-Up took on the role of his employer, creating a team to help and support him and his business, so that he was free to try out his ideas and see if they work in a real business situation.

Leigh Woolard graduated from Business Information Technology at Leeds Metropolitan University in 2005. He attended the annual Entrepreneurial Boot Camp in July 2006 where he acquired the practical information, advice and motivation needed to start a business.

Mark Fairbairn
Leeds Met graduate Mark Fairbairn is now up and running with his company VFM Media, which operates under the umbrella of VFM Associates ltd.
Mark offers multimedia services and e-learning packages to the commercial vehicle, construction plant, and agricultural machinery industries as well as clients in the military.
He also offers visual media and marketing work in the form of graphic design, print & publication and mobile device media.

Shaky Jakes
Building on the success of their retro milkshake bar in Headingley, Shaky Jakes have recently opened their second shop in the heart of Bradford’s bustling student area, Great Horton Road, and owners Patrick Windle and Katie Duxbury are anticipating a great response from students as they return to University to discover this new hangout.

Tim Robb
Managing Cultural & Major Events graduate Tim Robb has successfully launched his business Redkite Security Services at the Devon County Show.
Having worked in security and the events industry for several years organising and managing events, Tim realised there was a severe lack of quality, customer focussed security personnel, so this inspired him to take the plunge and start up his own security business.

Russell Agro
Russell Agro graduated in the summer of 2006 with a degree in Film and Moving Image. In 2008 he launched Glassland Media with his business partner Jamie Watson, a creative video production company which produces high quality videos for the business and broadcast markets.

Rabbit Hole Designs
Rabbit Hole is an enthusiastic design studio located in the center of Leeds. It all started in 2006 when Leeds Met students Mark Martin and Tim Ovens met while studying their degree in Multimedia Technology. They were both quick to recognise (and start exploiting!) each other’s talents, allowing themselves to be challenged and tested on many different projects.

Steven Taylor - Raw Design Studio
Steven, who studied Events Management at Leeds met, and Robert, a graphic design graduate from Salford Uni, have been friends for years and it wasn’t until one day over a pint they realised that together they could have a successful business.

The Skeleton Project
The Skeleton Project is a Yorkshire-based theatre and performance group, The founding members Matthew Allen and Anton Krasauskas graduated from Leeds Met in 2007 and have in that time toured original and exciting work, alongside their continuing efforts to showcase and develop the talents of other local artists and performers.

These Leeds Met Marketing students had tried a number of ventures since meeting, but none were particularly profitable. Then they created, designed and commissioned ‘Snog’, a fun and simple website, based on the ‘snog marry avoid’ game, to provide a different way to meet new people. They soon realised it was a hit, and quickly moved to make the site more interactive and interesting. But with the servers crashing and not wanting to lose the opportunity they looked to sell it.

Mike Moss, a graduate from Leeds Metropolitan University recently launched a unique website and promotion service that allows people to ‘Gopher’ the city’s food and drink vouchers.

Ryan Mulhern, a current Leeds Met student and staff member has recently launched his own media production company; Mulhern Media. Having secured a post as a part time lecturer for media production, Ryan is also studying part-time for a masters degree in Digital and Special Effects. This academic basis provides Ryan with the resources and research to aid his business.
