Business Start Up are committed to developing partnerships with local, regional and national stakeholders, universities and business support organisations.

Graduate Entrepreneurship
(www.graduateentrepreneurship.co.uk)

Yorkshire Universities is a partnership of 11 Universities within the Yorkshire and Humber region. All eleven are dedicated to promoting self employment within the region’s Universities and increasing the number of students and graduates who start businesses around Yorkshire and The Humber region.
The Universities supporting this partnership are; University of Huddersfield (Contract holder), Leeds Metropolitan University, University of Leeds, Trinity & All Saints College, Leeds College of Music, University of Bradford, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Sheffield, University of York, York St John University and University of Hull.

In addition to our individual activities we jointly hold an annual Business Concept Competition, facilitate a bank of mentors, run an annual Entrepreneurs Boot Camp, develop joint resources and materials and carry out research into student’s attitudes to enterprise and entrepreneurship.

Yorkshire Forward (www.yorkshire-forward.com)
Business Start-Up @ Leeds Met is as concerned with the growth of the region as it is with the development of students. Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency has cited the encouragement of business start-ups, particularly from universities, as centre point to its economic development strategy.
Their target is to double the number of business start-ups in the region by the year 2010 (from 40000 to 80000). We hope to help them achieve this by supplying individuals with the skills and knowledge they need to start up and run their own business.

Business Link (www.businesslink.gov.uk)

Business Start-up @ Leeds Met works closely in conjunction with Business Link, the agency funded by the government to provide business support on a national level.
On a local level our colleagues at Business Link Yorkshire organise training courses for start up businesses and provide advice on government help and funding which is available. Business Start-up can arrange appointments with a Business Link advisor and provide information about the free courses on offer.
