In a first for Leeds Met and Black Dyke Band, Saturday’s Gala Concert will be broadcast live from Gandhi Hall from 7pm to 9pm. The concert will also be available to view online following the performance.
The world-famous Black Dyke Band held their inaugural performance as a Leeds Met partner on 4 December 2005 where they accompanied students, staff and friends of the University to perform Handel's Messiah, supported by world-class soloists from Opera North. This led to Leeds Met supporting the Yorkshire Youth Brass Band, formed to inspire and motivate young people aged 11 - 18 years to achieve their full potential as musicians, composers and citizens. Their first rehearsal, consisting of 65 youngsters alongside the Black Dyke Band, was held recently at our Headingley Campus.
