Leeds Met and Black Dyke Band
together in harmony

Leeds Metropolitan University creates pioneering partnerships with the arts and sport. Although Leeds Met is well-known for its strong relationship with Leeds Rugby at Headingley Stadium, its cultural partnerships include links with Opera North, Northern Ballet Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse and the Harrogate International Festival.

The university’s newest cultural partnership, with Black Dyke Band, was launched through a performance of Handel’s Messiah by students, staff and friends accompanied by the band, matching the quality of its existing cultural links.

The university also encourages the development of partnerships between arts and sport, having recently supported Leeds City Council’s inspirational commission of an Anthem for the Leeds Rhinos rugby league team.

All-comers joined students, staff and friends of the university accompanied Leeds Met’s newest partner, Black Dyke Band, in a charity performance of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday 4 December.
