Student contributes to regeneration plans of Nelson, Lancashire

08-02-2010

Nathan Legge, a final year student on the BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology course completed a unique study of the revitalisation of a Victorian terraced property in the historic Lomashaye district of the old mill town.   The property owned by the North West Heritage Trust has been the subject of a refurbishment project which seeks to ensure the reconstruction work is sympathetic to the heritage of the building and its surrounding properties as part of the wider regeneration of the district.   Nathan, working with the housing market renewal pathfinder Elevate East Lancashire, generated CAD images for the building which have helped the design team generate final proposals for the building.

Jo Clarke, Elevate's Design and Heritage Manager commented:  "We're really pleased by the quality of Nathan's work and are looking forward to using the fabulous images that he produced for the 158 Every Street project.  His detailed layouts and consideration of space and aesthetics has already influenced the specification of works.  His model of 158 has really helped the Steering Group to look at an empty shell and see it instead as an attractive home".

Nathan completed his work earlier last year, but we look forward to seeing his work turned into reality in the forthcoming year.
