The Northern Film School appreciates the importance of participation in film festivals and as a school supports and funds a number of student films each year in submission to film festivals.

The Northern Film School selects a programme of best student shorts to be profiled at Leeds International Film Festival every year.

The Northern Film School is a member of Nahemi and regularly participates in the Eat our Shorts programme and other affiliate film festivals and events.

The Northern Film School is a member of CILECT and participates in a number of affiliate film festivals across the world.

Students on the MA Film and Moving Image Production course participate annually in the Student Kodak Commercial Awards.
