StaffLindsay Smales Lindsay Smales has worked as an urban design consultant with ECOTEC, on the regeneration of Birmingham's central office area, and on the redevelopment of major waterfront sites for Leeds Urban Development Corporation and Llewelyn-Davies Planning. He is currently working with Leeds City Council's Planning Department on Urban Design Strategy. He has also advised Hambleton DC on key design policies and initiatives. He has extensive experience of organising and running community planning and design workshops for, amongst others, The Leeds Initiative and Leeds Development Agency. Between 1996-8 Lindsay also worked on a British Council-funded programme in Turkey to develop community-based urban design guidance. In 1995 he was Visiting Research Fellow at the Department of Architecture, The University of Cape Town. He has held senior positions in Higher education for the last thirteen years and is currently joint Course Leader for Leeds Metropolitan University's MA in Urban Environment. He is presently undertaking research into the various bids in West Yorkshire for Objective 2 status and funding. Recent Publications Smales, L. & Whitney, D.
