StaffJohn Shutt Professor John Shutt is Eversheds Professor of Regional Business Development at Leeds Business School, Leeds Metropolitan University and is also Director of the European Regional Business Economic Development Unit (ERBEDU) at Leeds Business School. He was previously Deputy Director of the Centre for Local Economic Strategies, Manchester, the local government economic think tank, and has worked for Sheffield and Birmingham City Councils and Central Lancashire Development Corporation in the economic development and housing and planning fields. He has extensive United Kingdom and overseas experience in urban and regional economic development policy. He has undertaken research for the European Commission, British Council, local authorities, Training and Enterprise Councils and the not-for-profit and private sectors. He is currently researching the new Regionalism, regional economic development strategies, Regional Economic Development Agencies and City Futures. He teaches at Leeds Business School on the Leeds MBA, the Masters in Policy Studies, the Masters In Economic Regeneration and the MA in Management Consultancy. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Local Economy Journal, the Regional Studies Association and the Institute for Economic Development. Recent research projects include a national evaluation of Youth Enterprise in the United Kingdom for The Prince's Trust and research on Regional Development Agency Partnerships and Strategies for DETR, on Town Centre Management for the Association of Town Centre Management, on the European Structural Funds 2000-2006. Research for Yorkshire Forward includes "The State of the Region", published in 1999 and a research report on the Social Economy and Community Partnerships, to be published in November 2001. Research on The Regional Development Agencies and Business Change has been published by Ashgate, Aldershot (Shutt, J. (1999) New Regional Development Agencies in England: Wicked Issues.
