Research Interests

Suzanne’s research interests are in the field of local economic development and regeneration, skills and lifelong learning and labour markets. Suzanne has been involved in a wide range of research and consultancy projects for UK government departments, regional development agencies and local authorities. Recent projects include: the Evaluation of the New Deal for Communities (Worklessness) specifically looking at skills for employability (ODPM): the Evaluation of the Working Neighbourhood Pilots (DWP); the Cluster skills strategy and the Skills Audit for the Learning and Skills Council South Yorkshire.

Current interests include:
• The geography of the knowledge based economy and its role in facilitating regional economic development
• The production of community strategies and spatial planning for cities and sub-regions.
