CUDEM is working on a research project with Leeds-based social enterprise GIPSIL (Gipton Supported Independent Living) to examine the development of the organisation and its impact on the local community.
SURF is a three year, #4.68m, project of 12 partners. SURF aims to identify ways that urban fringe areas can contribute more effectively to the economic development of urban areas whilst promoting environmental sustainability and social cohesion.
Since 2003 CUDEM's public art policy analysis and evaluation work has engaged with the debate about the contribution of public art to regeneration, seeking to improve the knowledge and evidence-base upon which public sector agencies and local authorities develop public art strategies and policies.
In September 2006, CUDEM, together with ERBEDU were commissioned by the European Parliament to look at the possibilities of success of the Sustainable Communities Approach and its implementation across the EU 25.
The EPSON programme was research on the Spatial Development of an Enlarging European Union, supported by the EU-Community Initiative Interreg III.
Geoland was an Integrated Project within the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP-6), Priority AERO-2.2 - Aeronautics and Space, which ran from 2004-2007.
CUDEM acted as the overall content manager for the project and produced a 'toolkit' for policy development to support sustainable open space.
This was part of an ongoing research agenda led by Steve Littlewood and Kevin Thomas looking at the nature of urban/rural relations and the policy and planning context for managing open space sustainably.
