Hymns to the Silence
Dr Peter Mills' book, Hymns to the Silence, on the songs and career of Van Morrison, has been very well received with a number of glowing reviews published, including one in The Guardian newspaper and the Popular Music & Society Journal, July 2011.
Ilkley Literature Festival interactive sessions

Dr Claire Chambers and Dr Caroline Herbert co-ordinated - with John McLeod and Ananya Jahanara Kabir, colleagues in the School of English at University of Leeds - a day event at the Ilkley Literature Festival.

The Journal of Commonwealth Editorship

Dr Claire Chambers - Senior Lecturer in English, and Dr Sue Watkins - Reader in Contemporary Women's Writing, have just been appointed to the joint editorship of the international journal, Journal of Commonwealth Literature.

European Association of Urban Historians representation

Dr Shane Ewen, School of Cultural Studies, has been elected the UK's representative on the European Association of Urban Historians. He has also taken over as honorary conference organiser for the annual Urban History Conference in the UK.

Dr Stephen Mosley appointed Editor of Environment and History

Dr Stephen Mosley, Senior Lecturer in History has been appointed editor of the international journal, Environment and History.

Dr Rob Burroughs publishes his first book

Dr Rob Burroughs, a Senior Lecturer in English who joined Leeds Met in February of this year, has just published his first book, Travel Writing and Atrocities, with Routledge.

Book Publication by Dr Lisa Taylor

Dr Lisa Taylor has a new book entitled 'A Taste for Gardening', Classed and Gendered Practices', published on 15 August 2008, by Ashgate. This book presents the first scholarly analysis of the relationship between media interest in gardening and cultural identities.
