Staff Research Interests & Activities

The School's primary research interests are in social and cultural history, literary culture, and media and popular culture and academic staff achieve national and international acclaim for their work. Colleagues are actively involved in publishing, the production of journals, the hosting of day-schools and conferences, and centrally placed in academic networks. The journal, Contemporary Women's Writing (Oxford University Press) and Contemporary Women's Writing Network were initiated in and supported by the School.

Book Publication

Dr Lisa Taylor has a new book entitled 'A Taste for Gardening, Classed and Gendered Practices', published on 15 August 2008, by Ashgate. This book presents the first scholarly analysis of the relationship between media interest in gardening and cultural identities.
