School of Cultural Studies

Information for Applicants

Undergraduate Applicants
The School of Cultural Studies is a great place to study for an undergraduate degree.

Academic staff are experts in their subject areas and regularly present papers at conferences, produce books and journal articles, undertake research as well as teaching students.

Links with external partners such as the BBC, Northern Ballet Theatre and Festival Republic provide excellent opportunities for students to volunteer to take part in a wide range of activities alongside their studies.

There are also opportunities for students to take part in Study Abroad and International Exchange schemes. It is possible to spend one or two semesters in the second year studying overseas in Europe (Belgium, Czech Republic, Spain, Republic of Ireland) or further afield (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand).

Postgraduate Applicants
The School provides a supportive and stimulating environment for postgraduate students to study one of the taught Masters programmes or undertake their own research. Postgraduate students also benefit from the expertise of the academic teaching team.

There are many exciting opportunities for postgraduate students to get involved in University activities - such as the Annual Postgraduate Student Conferences where they present research papers to colleagues and peers and taking part in themed and interdisciplinary study days.
