Welcome from the Head of School

Thank you for visiting the School on-line. I hope you find our website useful and interesting.

The School is relatively small, with thirty five academic and administrative staff and around eight hundred undergraduate and postgraduate students.

We believe that this helps us create a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where individual students matter rather than being part of an anonymous mass.

Another virtue of our relatively small size is that all of the staff know each other and know about each other's work.  There is a strong multi-disciplinary ethos in the School that our students and staff find exciting. Knowledge and understanding are things to be shared and not hemmed in by disciplinary boundaries.
