Biography

Simon began full time teaching at Leeds Metropolitan in 2009. Prior to this he was a director at Bauman Lyons Architects where he became interested in the role of the Architect in society. How do we practice ethically and in a more sustainable way? How do we use our skills to make a difference to people's lives? During his time at Leeds School of Architecture, Landscape & Design, Simon has been developing the Urban Studio Unit as a vehicle for student involvement in real projects. So far they have built one project and have a number on the drawing board. Their focus in studio is to look at neglected parts of cities and to explore how they could make them better. The two books that have influenced Simon most are 'Cradle to Cradle' and 'Design like you give a Damn'.
