Juha Kaapa

Biography

Juha studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London, qualifying with RIBA in 1986. Juha completed postgraduate study at Helsinki University of Technology (now Aalto University) in the department of architecture in connection with London School of Economics as a visiting academic. Juha has taught design and related subjects in Finland and the UK. He has worked as a practicing designer/architect at Studio Juha Kaapa in Helsinki until 1994, working across graphic design to spatial, furniture, product design and architecture.

Juha has also worked as a freelance journalist for major papers and magazines in Finland, and acted as consultant creative director for Image Publishing. Juha has consulted and advised numerous Finnish national organisations, including Ministry of Education, Finnish Foreign Trade Association, Design Forum Finland and ICSID (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design). He has judged design competitions and chaired conferences and think-tank boards relating to design, and acted as a member of the board of Finnish Graphic Design Association.
