Research

The Leeds School of Architecture, Landscape and Design features a distinctive, interdisciplinary portfolio of research among academic staff and postgraduate students, dedicated to examining and extending the fields of art and design. The research group maintains close links with other Leeds Metropolitan subject groups:

  • Leeds School of Contemporary Art & Graphic Design
  • Film, TV and Performing Arts
  • Built Environment - Centre for Built Environment (CeBE)

Research is premised on the interactions of creative practice and critical enquiry, materiality and immateriality, hardware and software, action and audience, product and service, workshop and seminar room.

Activities include:

  • Practice centred and theoretical research leading to exhibition, publication, conference presentation and other national and international level outcomes.
  • Conference, public lecture, symposium and workshop organisation, often in partnership with cognate University departments, public authorities and businesses.
  • Research and consultancy services for business, public authorities, government departments and cultural industries.

The Leeds School of Architecture, Landscape and Design offers the opportunity to study for research degrees at MRes, MPhil, and PhD both through theoretical and practice based approaches across the range of disciplines covered by the School.
