After imagining who his infant school class mates had grown up to be, in the initial performance in January 1999, Alex Kelly decided to find out the truth.
Fulfilling his childhood dreams of being a detective, Alex began tracking down as many of the 34 children in the photograph as he could find. When he found them, he asked them what they had been doing for the last 24 years, what they remembered about their infant school days, and what they remembered about each other: a catalogue of both shared and unique memories.
In Class of '76 Alex explores the process of tracing those classmates, revealing their childhood dreams and turning their stories and memories into a living archive.
