and a spare set of sheets (Check Inventory for size required)
Food
No need to bring too much with you, but essentials like tea, coffee and snacks will be appreciated before you make it to the supermarket.
Cook book
You may be living on your own for the first time, so time to experiment with food! So raid your parents book shelf for cook books - or you could even treat yourself to a fantastic student cook book.
Personal items
Toiletries and make-up, CDs, DVDs, books etc.
Cleaning products
Amazingly the kitchen, bathroom and your bedroom do not clean themselves. Equip yourself with some basic cleaning products and become a domestic God or Goddess.
Things for your room
Posters, photos, etc... Anything to make it that little bit of home from home.
Alarm clock
Hopefully self-explanatory! Or you could use your mobile depending how good you are at getting out of bed. Don't want to go missing nine o'clock lectures now, do you?
Clothes
May be obvious, but remember you may need clothes for going out, going to the gym, warm/water proof clothes (it rains occasionally in Yorkshire!), there may be some formal dress events throughout the year, as well as fancy dress and definitely school disco, so don't forget your tie!
Electronics
You may find a computer useful (but not essential - there are ample available to use at University), stereo, TV (you will need to get your own TV licence if you are in halls). Make sure you know how to work appliances such as microwaves and washing machines before you get here.
Extension lead/plug adapter
For when you're straightening your hair, charging your phone, running your laptop, listening to music..
Contact details
Before you leave home collect all your friends and families' name and addresses - you will want to keep in contact with them, and remember their birthdays!
Camera
Great for capturing those facebook moments.
Books
Any textbooks or material you may have had to get for your course or any A-level textbooks you have used if relevant to your course.
Bag
To carry all those text books.
Bicycle
To keep you fit and travel for free.
Stationery
You will need to get your work organised, so don't forget files, folders, and of course a pen and pad may come in useful for taking those lecture notes!
An open mind
You will be living with people you have never met before from all sorts of backgrounds, with all sorts of interests. Be open to making new friends and meeting new people and your time at university will be a more pleasant one.
Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget your teddy!
If you do forget anything, don't worry. All the accommodation is close to the City Centre or Headingley and both have plenty of shops which will have everything you may need for your accommodation or personal items.
