Donate to the Shamirah Grant Bursary

Shamirah Grant was the 9 year old daughter of a Leeds Met student. She was tragically killed in a road traffic accident in Chapeltown in May in 2011.

Her death was felt right across the local community in Leeds. A couple of months after her death, her parents, Gary and Jennifer Grant approached Leeds Met to see if we could help keep her memory alive.

When we heard about this, we worked closely with Gary and Jennifer to create the Shamirah Grant Memorial Bursary. We called our alumni in October 2011 who generously supported the Scheme.

MAKE A DONATION, MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Your donations will help us to award at least two £1000 bursaries to first year students, who attend a local secondary school in postcodes LS7 and LS8 and who come from a disadvantaged background. The bursaries will be awarded to students undertaking an arts-related degree course as this was the area that Shamirah was most passionate about.

As well as making a single gift or regular gift via our website, you can also raise money for the Shamirah Grant Memorial Bursary by organising your own fundraising activity to help support the cause.
